Highlighting GTA’s Rebecca Dillon!

Highlighting GTA’s Rebecca Dillon!

MEET REBECCA DILLON, PRINCIPAL, DIRECTOR OF ARCHITECTURE!

It’s been a while since we’ve had the chance to highlight some of our talented team here at GTA! Right now, we’d like to call attention to Principal, Director of Architecture, and owner, Rebecca Dillon.

Rebecca has been with the company since becoming an intern in 1992 and has been a key player in countless projects across the company’s existence.

Rebecca sees design and thoughtful insight as crucial tools for creating flexible spaces to enhance how people live, work, and play.

Rebecca sees architecture, first and foremost, as a problem-solving process—and she strives to provide solutions. A Registered Architect in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Illinois, Rebecca earned her Bachelor of Architecture from Boston Architectural College. As a LEED Accredited Professional, she incorporates green/sustainable solutions into many of her designs.

Rebecca would tell you that she has always wanted to be an architect- and she means it! Her grandfather was a carpenter, so the built environment was always around her. As early as 3rd grade, she would sketch houses for fun.

Fast forward and Rebecca attended Vermont Technical College for Architecture/Engineering and learned practical info, skills, and theory that only cemented her interest in the industry. After graduating, she began her internship, but also went back to school at Boston Architectural College.

What is Rebecca’s favorite thing about working at GTA? The dogs in the office! We love visits from Sally, Lucy, Yoshi, and more!

GTA’s senior living projects resonate with Rebecca in particular. During her summer vacations, she had a job at the Gorham House senior living facility, filling in for staff taking time off. Her work there included, laundry, cleaning, administrative, and everything in between! She witnessed firsthand the pitfalls that the senior living workforce (and the residents themselves) deal with every day. She took this experience and also worked at Sentry Inn at York Harbor in the office prior to her internship at GTA.

With a unique combination of experience in senior living as well as an education in architecture, Rebecca was able to tackle our senior living clients like no other. A standout project for her is the Hospice of Southern Maine in Scarborough, ME. It was enlightening to see how much can be provided in hospice care, as well as what would be needed when designing the project. Rebecca’s unique outlook can be seen across the board in GTA’s portfolio.

We are all extremely lucky to work with Rebecca, and can’t wait to see what’s in store for her years to come at GTA. You can find more info and contact methods for Rebecca HERE!
